The short version: Mutual interest matching - answers are only revealed when both parties approve
When you use Lykewise, we store:
Lykewise requires an account to use. Your email and password are handled by a separate authentication service and are not stored by Lykewise.
Lykewise collects information about sexual preferences, kink interests, and intimate boundaries. This is classified as sensitive personal data under Australian privacy law and special category data under GDPR Article 9.
We collect this data only with your explicit consent, which is requested before you answer your first set of questions. Your consent is recorded and can be withdrawn at any time by deleting your account.
This data is used solely to compute mutual matches between you and people you choose to compare with. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or shared with third parties.
Answer data for resolved entries (where results have been released or either party blocked) is automatically deleted after 90 days, unless the set has been archived by its creator. Archived sets are exempt from automatic deletion.
Profile data, identity codes, question lists, trusted user relationships, and follow relationships are retained until you delete your account.
You can export all your data at any time from your profile settings in both human-readable and machine-readable formats.
You can delete your Lykewise data from within the app. This permanently removes your profile, sets, answers, match results, question lists, identity code, follow relationships, trusted user records, and all associated data.
This does not delete your sign-in account, which is managed separately. You can continue using your sign-in credentials for other services, or delete that account independently.
Deletion is immediate and irreversible. All data is removed from our servers in a single operation.
We may be required to disclose user data in response to valid legal processes such as court orders or subpoenas. We will comply with lawful requests from Australian authorities and, where applicable, international law enforcement.
We will notify affected users of legal requests for their data unless prohibited by law from doing so.
Due to our 90-day automatic deletion policy, data from resolved entries may no longer exist at the time of a legal request.
All data is stored on servers located in the United States (DigitalOcean). Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to the server is restricted to the service operator.
Some data is stored locally in your browser and never sent to our servers. localStorage persists across reloads and tabs until you clear it:
You can clear this data anytime through your browser settings.
We do not use cookies for tracking. We use localStorage to save preferences and sessionStorage during the sign-in process.
We use our own privacy-focused analytics to collect minimal anonymous usage data:
We do not use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics.
We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
